Title : Charmed

( Very ) Short Summary: It's about 3 Sisters: Piper, Phoebe and Page who
have to save the innocent AND the world by
vanquishing the demons of the underworld...
Charmed was a serie about three girls named Prue, Piper and Phoebe.
It all starts when Phoebe ( the youngest one ) decides to move
back from New York, to the manor, where her two sisters live.
When she gets home she discovers the old spiritboard
which their grandmother had left for them.Phoebe(also the curious one) begins "playing" with the old board, when suddenly the spirit board starts spelling a message :
First the little crystal shoots to the letter 'A', then it glides over to the 'T' and goes back a little and back to the 'T' again.Afterwards the crystal flies to the 'I' and ends at the 'T'.
As quickly as she could, Phoebe writes all the letters down and noticed that the crystal spelled "ATTIC" !
At first she tries to tell Piper and Prue about this, but they act sceptical and ignore her.
So, Phoebe slowly climbs the stairs that lead to the attic.
When she stands in front of the door, she decided that it wasn't a good idea after all and turns a round to go downstairs, when suddenly...
the door swings open by itself ! (like magic...)
She walks through the door and starts looking a round for 'odd things'.
Soon she finds an old book, covered in dust ! She opens the book and reads the title of the book : Book Of Shadows...
She flips a few pages when suddenly the pages turn by themself !
*Note* :A book called : The Book Of Shadows really does exsist ! I'm not sure what's in it, but I'm sure your library will have it.
Also *Note* : At first the girls think that it's the book that is flipping the pages, but after a while they find out that it was their grandmother , who was using her telekenetic powers from beyond the grave to lend them a helping hand !
So, Phoebe opens the Book Of Shadows and the pages start turning themself.
It stops at a page with an incantation.Phoebe who feels drawn to it, reads the spell out loud.
That's how they got there powers.
They use these given powers to save innocent and rid the world of demons !
*Special Note* : In all books about occult and witchcraft, you read that the three strongest powers are : The ability to move things with the power of the mind(telekenisis), freeze persons and objects by mind and the power to foresee the future (premonitions).
Now let's combine these three powers together and you get an UNSTOPPABLE force...The Charmed Ones !
And now you have the reason why the show is so succesful !
I mean : Three very hot girls, that have supernatural powers and use them to kick some demon-ass, creating a show that is great for women AND men ? What's not to like ?
Later on in the show ( Season 3, I think ) Prue dies at the hands of shax, a demon.
To restore the power of three again : Paige is brought to the show as the child of their mother and her whitelighter.
Because they both feared the reactions of others and they had to put Paige up for adoption.
Now, after so many years, Paige has grown to an adult, she is drawn to Prue's funeral by a magic force.
Piper and Phoebe meet Paige and the power of three is restored again, giving paige the ability to teleport herself by mind ( orbing )
Now that the power of three is restored they can go back to their demon-ass-kicking lives.
